Sultry Simple Style!

Even good girls can do it!

Sultry Olivia Swiadek

Rock stars made faux fur, edy look famous. But torn fishnets and battered six-string aren’t prerequisites for the sexy, rock glam look.

Winter White and Blush

Model Olivia Swiadek

Even the most clean-cut can simply tone down the color (do it in blush or pure white) and rein in the faux fur stardom and the attitude. This all-winter, light-glam look flatters almost everyone. The make up should look natural, and hair should be down and free. This is a perfect night out look so skip heavy boots and instead wear nude sandals or pumps to keep the mood soft.

Keep the mood soft Fashion

Why did I pick this particular jacket? Just when I thought I had the hemline thing down and that I possessed a certain eye for proportion, a new, hot silhouette that I suddenly can’t live without had appeared: the half jacket. Half the coverage, double the exposure :) That is if you like bare midriffs of course! While it looks like a slashed jacket, it most definitely isn’t. And I am in love!

Check out BCBG faux fur jacket that Olivia is wearing, it makes the white cropped trousers look that much racier. It would also look fierce with a tight skirt and top. So flaunt your assets- but don’t think that just because half the jacket is missing, it will cost half the price.

The Look - A FASHION PAGE PRODUCT REVIEW * * * * *

1. Traditional borrowed from menswear styles are getting a fashion makeover this season. Impeccably tailored Page Skyline bootcut jeans and cut from crisp, airy cotton-poplin Equipment shirt are at once feminine and sporty. A modern take on classic boy look? We'll take ours with Topshop bomber jacket and Milly Fringe Satchel.

These Page jeans are amazingly tailored but are designed for really tall women with long legs.

Jacket: Topshop, Sunglasses: Karen Walker, Necklace: BaubleBar, Shirt: Equipment, Jeans: Page, Boots: Chloe similar here, Bag: Milly

2. Nautical themes are hitting the streets. For a lot of my clients the ultimate stripe top is the new "white T top." The latest must have from Theory- 'Ennayln B' Stripe Scoop Neck Top. Take this top with AG 'The Angelina' Bootcut Jeans and Topshop 'Kindred' Pointy Toe Loafer or into evening with stilettos. Don't forget to wear extreme chic mirror sunglasses by Karen Walker in city-savvy grey color.

The top is designed for longer torso type of body but I loved the quality.

3. Slip a printed sleeveless top over everything from distressed jeans to skinny pants or mini skirt. Milly Brushstroke Print Sleeveless Top is this spring's posh street statement. This sleek, vibrant in wildly beautiful colors tank is a work of art. When the sun goes down pair it with jeans or skinny trousers and heels.  With a stepped cutaway hem, the look is pure "modern abstract tabard." And the finishing touches? Alexis Bittar Crystal-Encrusted Lucite Spear Earrings and Colorblock Crystal Hinge Bracelet.

5. Freedom of Choice:  There isn’t any one look- instead there are always choices, options that invite women to discover their own flair.

Those options include black and white print leggings and lace up high heel shoes, mesh jumper and oversized tweed coat. Accessories match the variety of looks to complement the season’s style directions.  Bracelets: This chic accessory comes in an array of options for spring.

Fashion Now

Today being fashionable isn't about obtaining standing items that everyone else has. Women are demanding more personalized pieces- whether straight from the runway or custom made items, or unique gems found in millions of retail websites offering pieces that stores simply don’t. Pieces that set them apart from the crowd.

Jamie’s rusty orange and yellow combo is an easy to define bold color statement that will set anyone apart if wearing on the street.  ‘70s still growing trend is for women desiring understatement rather than logos.

Now tags simply don’t matter as much. What we want are things that make us feel really singular. With one click of a mouse you are invited into the world of designers old and new, fast fashion and retail chains all catering to this new wish for more personal interpretations of indulgence.

When putting this ensemble together for Jamie, I gravitated toward the season’s latest off-the-runway looks. As I was looking through the photos taken by John Rounds I could not decide which ones are the best. All of them are incredible. As I was trying to narrow it down, looking at Jamie and how amazing she looked in those colors, I realized that the future of the fashion industry lies in offering different choices and styles targeted to specific types of customers. There will be a group of fashionistas that will set the trends and will need the most unique and extravagant items but let’s not forget about mothers, business women, tall or short women. For instance, not all designers make jeans for really tall women, in fact there are only a few brands out there that cater to really tall women.  Ironic, as most of the runways are walked by some of the tallest girls in the world.

Young women are outdoing their descents by purchasing never-seen-before pieces. The new fashion is unsolidified and energetic -fun, carefree traces like the tweed clutch or suede wedges are important parts of the equation.

Now the ultimate luxury is having the choice and freedom to dress exactly how you want regardless of brand or make. Luxury is being able to relax and enjoy things… just because.

Checks Checked, From Runway to Street-24/7 Dressing.

checks2.jpg.jpg

A Fashion Page is a laboratory site where I can test my more radical fashion ideas. I post my most original looks or outfits that hopefully will make my readers and followers reexamine how they look at clothes. Today my “checks on denim” look is a reinterpretation of classic military theme, completely nontraditional and right for the street style.

And a special thanks to John Rounds who shot my "checks checked" story and produced most stunning images ever. He is a modern renaissance man and you can take a look at his breathtaking portfolio here. His photos capture the fun, dynamism and beauty of fashion. Can't wait to our next photoshoot! We are also planning on featuring a model next time but can't say more at this time. Also anyone interested in wearing beautiful outfits (put together by me) and having awesome images taken by John for our AFP blog please contact me here.

From Runway to Street -24/7 Dressing.

Today we'll going to cover the veracity of 24/7 dressing as we tackle the issue of looking contemporary at work and stylish on the weekend.

AT WORK

It all comes down to knowing how to interpret the yin and yang of your daily demands into clothes that surely work for you. You really can't go wrong with white cotton-cashmere blend jumper. (below from Proenza Schouler featuring a crew neck, long sleeves, a ribbed knit and an asymmetric hem)

WEEKEND

I'm continuously fascinated by the trendy ways New York uptown women deal with changing their weekend wear.

Layla Leather Waterfall Drape is a wonderful piece to throw over just about anything a dress, sweater or blouse a perfect blazer to wear on your weekends.

AT WORK

My belief is that most of us fall into two types: Those who have a diverse closet for each situation (refined BCBG or Paul Smith suits for Monday through Friday, and casual Majestic long sleeve turtleneck and Cheap and Chic Moschino skinny trousers for Saturday and Sunday), and those who mandate more out of their separates and pair the same Paul Smith blazer with Cheap and Chic Moschino trousers on the weekend and a skirt from Chicwish during the week. I do a little of both.  I love to dress up though and the butterfly pattern that prettifies this cotton parka below is a keynote that Valentino is advocating for the season forward, and I love it juxtaposed against the iconic, down-to-earth silhouette. Or this amazing laser-cut shearling that was applied to a BCBG Max Azaria camel coat in a lattice pattern, so imaginative and fantastic but yet still very classic.

WEEKEND

So sometimes on the weekend I love to dress up in dresses and floppy hats; other times, for a walk in a park with my two adorable munchkins, I wear moto boots, leather jacket and cozy shearling coat over it to stay extra warm in this crazy whether. This Forever New slim leg pant is a clothing essential this season and is a seamless addition to your work wear style as well, and can be easily worn from the office to an evening out.

AT WORK

The chicest women also know that getting a look right doesn't stop with their clothes and basics. How you wear your accessories can be equally important. While I love the new fringe bag trends, you need to decide what works with your style and your lifestyle. This Prada Saffiano Two Zip Lux Tote is a staple to those who want both functionality and chic style.

Longline Coat

Coat: Miu Miu, Dress: 3.1 Philip Lim, Thights: Hue, Boots: Nine West, Earrings: H&M, Clutch: ASOS, Sunglasses: H&M

Wow! Can we talk about longline coats? This season they are flowy, long and epically cool; the ultimate fashion must-have and the options are endless. Below you'll find pieces from designers like Temperley London, Prada, Vivenne Westwood, Cédric Charlier and Jacques Vert.  It is only fitting that for today's posts I wore my favorite Miu Miu black coat and paired with neutral 3.1. Philip Lim dress to keep it simple.
