skirt

This is what I call preppy, hip and sexy!

What kind of jacket should you wear with a snap front mini skirt?

I recommend a short quilted zip front jacket option. All you need now: a fun crop top and hot wedge platform sandals.

On the bottom, wide skirts complement a short, boxy jackets: this front snaps skirt gets an update with an adorable scalloped hem.

Adding texture- in Burberry Brit fall jacket- lifts the look into multiple-compliment territory. To look dapper keep the jewelry accessories minimal. Squared-off flat handbag or clutch should telegraph smart elegance. Low heel mules would be another great option but with a skirt, stick to higher wedge platforms.

For Jamie's make up: Definitely less is more! And our precious model gets away with using very little. Because of her luminous skin, we stick with earthy tones: gold, brown, caramel, bronze.

With each shoot, she just gets prettier.

Don't you agree that these Loewe sunglasses make this look noticeably more interesting? Black and blue make wonderful wardrobe builders; they're easy to mix and match, and they're especially stylish when you stir in a little rusty gold details or a touch of darker metallic blue like the Whistles clutch.

Splurge only on standouts since you'll be using them all season long.

Short Story For Every Woman!

A chic jean jacket is the mini's perfect partner.

End of Summer's higher-than-ever hemlines are the new fashion favorites for the girl who's on the go. When going super short, replace the mile-high stiletto with chic flats- there are plenty to choose from this season.

This is also a perfect season to start your private collection of bracelets, bangles and cuffs.

Your everyday bag-downsized to a perfectly portable purse or clutch-in wear-with-everything neutral.

For the next few weeks you can still pair your gladiator natural leather sandals with skinny pants or a casual mini skirt like the one Jamie is wearing on the photos.

On the weekends, keep it simple and sporty with basic tees, knits and denim jackets. With a sexy mini at night, a looser top will keep the proportions right.

It's a very body-conscious look, yet the mini skirt can be very flattering. Making it work depends on color- prints can be a really great choice- and other elements of your outfit.

THE MINI

The skirt of the season has reached new heights- and whether it's scandalously skintight, flouncy and flirty, or slim and sophisticated, there's a suitable style for everyone.

HOW TO WEAR IT IN YOUR 20S

Keep the concept of mini relative: In your 20s, a traffic-stopping suede mini, graphic tank top and easy silhouette Italian wool coat are perfect for brave fashion followers. Bold but totally acceptable. Just remember you must feel comfortable with the length. If you feel as if you're baring too much, then most likely you are.

Those in their 30s can still go short-short- depending on whether it's for day, night, work, or weekend. The shorter the skirt, the lower the heel.

Okay in your 40s you are most likely thinking an inch or two above the knee but on rare occasions it is absolutely allowed, especially to those who do not want to hide their legs just yet, to put on a flirty, textured mini and kitten heels to dress it up a bit. Especially when there is no cleavage involved, and the blouse is not fitted. Sexy and elegant.

In your 50s you can pair pumps or heeled sandals with just-above-the knee skirt for a more sophisticated look. Obviously you don't always have to look like a librarian but it is a very flattering look. If you wear loafers or flat shoes you can easily rise your hemline an inch or two above your knees.

In their 60s+ it is safe to say women should stick to clean and simple just above the knee skirts in a conservative solid color or black and white patterns, but I am also a fan of dark florals and tweed pastels. I find that mature women who do go for brighter colors and busier patterns are fearless fashionistas no matter what age.

HOW TO WEAR IT If YOU ARE CURVY

SHORT SLEEVE SWEATER: MBJ, JACKET: RIVER ISLAND, SKIRT: ROMWE, SANDALS: DSQUARED2, BAG: TOM FORD, EARRINGS: SONOMA LIFE, LEATHER BRACELET: MANGO, RED BRACELET: VINTAGE, SUEDE BRACELET: GREENBEANS BY EMILY & ASHLEY, LEATHER GLOVES: VALENTINO, HEAD WRAP: CARA, SUNGLASSES: ILLESTEVEA

For the more curvy and top-heavy, a bright-colored or single breasted in beige or cream color skirt with a neutral or black shirt creates the proper balance

HOW TO WEAR IT If YOU ARE BOTTOM-HEAVY

CARDIGAN: ROMWE, SHIRT: R13, SKIRT: NEW LOOK, BOOTIES: GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI, WRISTLET: VERA BRADELY, EARRINGS: CHANEL, BANGLE: NEW LOOK, HAT: MICHAEL STARS, SUNGLASSES: VINCE CAMUTO

A fuller-figured woman, especially if she is bottom-heavy, should wear a more A-line skirt and pair it with a simple top, like a button-down shirt or blouse, keeping the colors dark for slimmer silhouette.

HOW TO WEAR IT If YOU ARE SLIM-HIPPED

SHIRT: KARL LAGERFELD, COAT: GANT, SKIRT: CHLOE, BOOTS: JEFFREY CAMPELL, BAG: MICHAEL BY MICHAEL KORS, EARRINGS: ACCESSORIZE, BANGLE: ARMENTA

A slim-hipped woman should pick a mini with a bit of a flair and pair it with a wispy top, nipped in slightly at the waist to create curves.

This Fall you can go wild on Layers. Button-down shirts, cardigans, knit sweaters and coats are all major players.  This is a classic trend for this time of the year and season after season you have perfected your look!  I am a very loyal H&M client! Every year around this time they have been great at putting out some of the most interesting outwear on the market at really affordable rates.   I really love this H&M wool-blend coat. It is has all of the elements I’ve been searching for this season; sort of an unspoken, quiet, mature elegance while still very youthful and contemporary.  Also J.Crew calf hair ankle boots in leopard print are exceptional and can be truly breathtaking when paired with Rebecca Minkoff’s Amourous Bag.  This Roksanda Illinsick blouse will look really remarkable with or without the Vince Mesh Knit sweater over it and if you put nice chunky necklace like this Simon Sebagg piece – you’re suddenly cool!  Last but not least look season smart with this chic and unique Sinequanone skirt.

Pieces that have multiple personalities.

A lot of my clothes do! Such as sweaters that work with pailletted pants for black-tie and with jeans or mini skirts on the weekend. Your everyday white button-down white, or tuxedo blouse paired with long, wool, wide leg pants can whisper of richness and elegance or it can be casually worn with your ripped jeans and biker style jacket.

My favorite coat from Express, probably would be considered vintage now as it is almost fifteen years old! It is one of those perfectly tailored, scrupulously detailed items that become a woman's signature wardrobe mainstay.
