The smell of chocolate and coziness of this unbelievable place make us think in an old fashioned sense. It smells like Christmas here or just simply home, a warm and welcoming place. The owner Arlene Brockel is one of the warmest human beings you will ever meet and very passionate about her chocolatier artistry. the art and the science of beauty
reveal your radiant nature

A Fashion Page, presents model Olivia Swiadek. She is a beautiful and radiant, natural 5’10” stunner. She is unbelievably nice and I’d kill for her body.

For this photoshoot, John Rounds captured Olivia at both her cheerful and her most sultry- and we decided that it is virtually impossible to take an unflattering picture of the model. She has strong facial features and beautiful eyes, so she can handle any light or angle.

I look forward to writing this blog every month. And I am deeply disappointed that I have missed couple of months. Fashion styling business can become very intense at times and lately it's been especially crazy.

We're back at our favorite vintage spot in downtown Bethlehem; The Attic, and still with our lovely model Faith Garavaglia. As usual, I was stunned by the beautiful photographs by John Rounds.

untitled-3022-8.jpg

I was also enthralled by the edginess and raw passion that leaped off Faith's outfit that she picked out herself.  In photos of Faith striking a pose, John Rounds offers the most startling and compelling images of any fashion blog today.

"If you've got it, flaunt it," is the motto of this particular photo-shoot. And "flaunt it" she did, showing that women continue to find distraction, indulgence, perhaps even solace, in uniqueness of vintage fashion. And this time, our joy is all about this dress by Romeo and Juliet.

untitled-3024-2.jpg

Faith's outfit is a pitch for the party girl in modern/industrial mode.  We're shifting from spring's palette of pale, dusty shades to a moody black and from frocks with major flow to a highly constructed shillouettes.

untitled-3025-2.jpg

In fact, strong boho inspired silhouettes were a big theme behind 2018 Fall Fashion shows. Brands like Self-Portrait, Balmain or Tom Ford appreciate the value of more and kind of fashion that can exude modern and futuristic romanticism.

If you are one of these girls looking to deliver controlled fashion drama just start by eliminating multiple chiffon layerings in favor of chic tailoring in black.

Other elements to look for in the near future are black lace, white satin embroidered with flowers, studded black leather- capturing moods from elegance to S&M.

As always the result of our creative collaboration with our wonderful make-up artist Danika Clevenstine, photographer John Rounds and super talented model Faith Garavaglia was a fabulous photoshoot.

Once again we need to acknowledge The Attic boutique for letting us roam their wonderful and chic supply of magical clothes and accessories. Everybody who loves vintage treasures will go gaga over The Attic's selection, and here we're making it official.

The perfect blouse top and go anywhere bag. A fashionable closet is not complete until it contains these two things. Both can be worn again and again and are add-instant-polish pieces.  Commit to finding the right one and you'll never have fashion angst again.

A round of applause for The Attic boutique, whose amazing selection of clothes set the tone for our Fall Season editorial. Our two major influences- mix of formal and casual ladylike looks and romantic 80s glam.

The theme of this photoshoot was "Goddess," and no one could summed up that concept better than Faith with her all-eyes-on-me, gorgeous hair and heavnly blue eyes.

Rain or shine, the bottom of the choice is the mini skirt. Whether classic black or so trendy sequin theme, these skirts are oh so chic.

Coloring Faces- Interview with Danika.

Few things are more seductive than a soft shapely beautifully defined pair of ...lips.

A sophisticated mix of diva-rich shades complemented by soft, bohemian hues.

A sophisticated mix of diva-rich shades complemented by soft, bohemian hues.

Let's face it our amazing makeup artist star Danika Clevenstine deserves props for giving a lovely boost to our AFP photoshoots. She's been "coloring" faces of our models, and her style and aesthetics are always a DO! From deeply dramatic to softly romantic, every make up look produced by Danika is perfect.

AFP: Danika can you please tell us a little about Jamie's latest look?

Danika: We wanted to go for something high in glam but also keep things natural to make sure her makeup didn't take away from her beautiful looks for the shoot. This look was a peachy "smokey" eye paired with a coral lip. Even though Jamie has BEAUTIFUL lashes, we did give her false lashes to give her eyes some added definition.

Breathtaking photography by John Rounds.

AFP: Which element of make-up work do you most enjoy?

Danika: I love teaching girls how to do makeup and I also love seeing the added confidence that they have when they put it on. I love building connections with the models that I teach at a modeling agency and teaching them things that they won't only use on auditions but also for the everyday life.

AFP: Who do you most enjoy working with?

Danika: I love our fashion blog team. Any time I get to work with John Rounds in a shoot is amazing- we work very well together and his work is some of the best I've seen. I also love working with Danuta, she has an infectious personality and is so welcoming- these are my favorite individuals to works with mainly because we work so well together and bring the best fashion photography to life in the Lehigh Valley.

AFP: You've worked on a lot of A Fashion Page photo-shoots and you have worked with models at other places as well, how does that feel, and how do you prepare for those?

Danika: After working with Jamie a few times, I know how to fix her brow shape to make it perfect. When your working with a new face it's sort of a challenge and I love a good challenge! You will always work with different personalities too but it makes your job fun. Over the four years I've been a certified makeup artist, I've worked on many different faces and skin tones, you are more comfortable as time goes on. Making sure I go in prepared makes things easier so I am ready for any looks they throw at me.

AFP: Do you like creating really out-there looks, or do you prefer something classically beautiful?

Danika: I truly believe that makeup should accentuate your features and not hide them. You are made to look like you do, so I prefer a natural look. I never do a crazy eye and a crazy lip, sort of a makeup artist rule, you play only one area of the face up and tone down the other.

AFP: What do you think makes a great model?

Danika: CONFIDENCE! This is the number one thing I tell girls, be confident and the pictures will follow, it's really all you have to do. Confidence is infectious and will show through your pictures.

AFP: Does everyone look better with make-up?

Danika: That's a hard one to answer: yes or not too. I've heard the saying but I feel confident with or without makeup and even as a makeup artist most of the time I am not wearing makeup. (Danuta probably hasn't seen me once with makeup on lol!)- I actually prefer no makeup for me. Although I do believe even a small amount of makeup can help to even out skin tone or make your eyes pop. But there are days where I feel prettier without it on.

AFP: What is in your personal make-up bag?

Danika: In my personal makeup bag I have: an eye lash curler (which is key!), Tarte setting powder, makeup Forever foundation,  Buxom mascara, Tarte shape tape concealer, Anastasia brow wiz in soft brown and flower child blush by Becca- pretty much my 5 minute face items! I don't even use eyeshadows for work or eyeliner, just the basics!

AFP: If you turn up at a shoot and the model has terrible skin, what do you do?

Danika: First thing is to evaluate the skin. I keep a bag of sugar in my handbag in case we can do a sugar scrub to get off some dead skin before makeup application. There was a time where I had TERRIBLE skin and is actually why I got into makeup.  So, I am really good at helping to cover blemishes, especially with the color correction skills I learned in my makeup program.

Confident in Gingham Style!

We had a blast working with model Jessica Falco and are looking forward to more shoots with this beauty. She is super professional and absolutely stunning. Photographed by one and only John Rounds, beautified and hair-styled by amazing Danika Clevenstine. Styled by me.... :)

Danika Clevenstine working her magic.

Danika Clevenstine working her magic.

Let's talk about Jessica's look.  Gingham style, not to confuse with Gangnam Style, has been around since 1800s.  The actual fabric is over five hundred years old! And since 1940s the fabric has been favored by American actresses like Katharine Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and today's celebrities like Emily Rajtkowski.  For Jessica's look we chose, this trendy gingham A-line dress by Isaac Mizrahi that is cinched at the waist. And we're keeping this look clean and simple.

So, just to be clear, Gingham is not plaid! Here's how to tell them apart:

  • Gingham is always is white plus another color
  • Plaid can be any combination of colors
  • The lines in gingham have the same width
  • The lines in plaid have different widths

This classic look is fitting for a low key premiere or party.

IMNYC ISAAC MIZRAHI Gingham A-Line Shirtdress is on sale right now and you can purchase it here.

With Memorial Weekend upon us there is not other pattern that feels more All American than gingham.

Our theme for this photoshoot was Backstage Confidence.  Jessica did a phenomenal job in showcasing the evolution of confidence building that every model, actress or musician must go through. Self-assurance is a powerful value because it helps make dreams realities. Jessica seems to be the type of model that once she sets her mind on something , she goes for it.  What is important to understand is that beauty and ability comes from within and I think John Rounds did an unbelievable job in capturing just that!

So how does exactly Gingham's wholesomeness play into Confidence we're talking about? Because it is also hot, stylish and easygoing. But, most important, and I am sure we all agree,  it is very feminine!
