Coloring Faces- Interview with Danika.

Few things are more seductive than a soft shapely beautifully defined pair of ...lips.

A sophisticated mix of diva-rich shades complemented by soft, bohemian hues.

A sophisticated mix of diva-rich shades complemented by soft, bohemian hues.

Let's face it our amazing makeup artist star Danika Clevenstine deserves props for giving a lovely boost to our AFP photoshoots. She's been "coloring" faces of our models, and her style and aesthetics are always a DO! From deeply dramatic to softly romantic, every make up look produced by Danika is perfect.

AFP: Danika can you please tell us a little about Jamie's latest look?

Danika: We wanted to go for something high in glam but also keep things natural to make sure her makeup didn't take away from her beautiful looks for the shoot. This look was a peachy "smokey" eye paired with a coral lip. Even though Jamie has BEAUTIFUL lashes, we did give her false lashes to give her eyes some added definition.

AFP: Which element of make-up work do you most enjoy?

Danika: I love teaching girls how to do makeup and I also love seeing the added confidence that they have when they put it on. I love building connections with the models that I teach at a modeling agency and teaching them things that they won't only use on auditions but also for the everyday life.

AFP: Who do you most enjoy working with?

Danika: I love our fashion blog team. Any time I get to work with John Rounds in a shoot is amazing- we work very well together and his work is some of the best I've seen. I also love working with Danuta, she has an infectious personality and is so welcoming- these are my favorite individuals to works with mainly because we work so well together and bring the best fashion photography to life in the Lehigh Valley.

AFP: You've worked on a lot of A Fashion Page photo-shoots and you have worked with models at other places as well, how does that feel, and how do you prepare for those?

Danika: After working with Jamie a few times, I know how to fix her brow shape to make it perfect. When your working with a new face it's sort of a challenge and I love a good challenge! You will always work with different personalities too but it makes your job fun. Over the four years I've been a certified makeup artist, I've worked on many different faces and skin tones, you are more comfortable as time goes on. Making sure I go in prepared makes things easier so I am ready for any looks they throw at me.

AFP: Do you like creating really out-there looks, or do you prefer something classically beautiful?

Danika: I truly believe that makeup should accentuate your features and not hide them. You are made to look like you do, so I prefer a natural look. I never do a crazy eye and a crazy lip, sort of a makeup artist rule, you play only one area of the face up and tone down the other.

AFP: What do you think makes a great model?

Danika: CONFIDENCE! This is the number one thing I tell girls, be confident and the pictures will follow, it's really all you have to do. Confidence is infectious and will show through your pictures.

AFP: Does everyone look better with make-up?

Danika: That's a hard one to answer: yes or not too. I've heard the saying but I feel confident with or without makeup and even as a makeup artist most of the time I am not wearing makeup. (Danuta probably hasn't seen me once with makeup on lol!)- I actually prefer no makeup for me. Although I do believe even a small amount of makeup can help to even out skin tone or make your eyes pop. But there are days where I feel prettier without it on.

AFP: What is in your personal make-up bag?

Danika: In my personal makeup bag I have: an eye lash curler (which is key!), Tarte setting powder, makeup Forever foundation,  Buxom mascara, Tarte shape tape concealer, Anastasia brow wiz in soft brown and flower child blush by Becca- pretty much my 5 minute face items! I don't even use eyeshadows for work or eyeliner, just the basics!

AFP: If you turn up at a shoot and the model has terrible skin, what do you do?

Danika: First thing is to evaluate the skin. I keep a bag of sugar in my handbag in case we can do a sugar scrub to get off some dead skin before makeup application. There was a time where I had TERRIBLE skin and is actually why I got into makeup.  So, I am really good at helping to cover blemishes, especially with the color correction skills I learned in my makeup program.

10 Ways To Revive Your Old Pieces - Old & New Spring Remix.

In this post I am reviewing some of the new, hot items available on the market but also going back into my closet to revive and rediscover once beloved pieces that are still very much wearable and classic.

1. In this first look I took the boxy shapes, cropped top from last summer and tweed jacket, and loosened the look up with long wide pants.

Top: Someday Lovin , Jacket: Alberta Ferretti (old) also love this one , Blazer: H&M (old) s imilar here , Pants: Daily Look , Bag: Luis Vuitton (old) love this one , Necklace: Betsy Johnson (old), love this one from Emerald Park Jewelry too.

Top: Someday Lovin, Jacket: Alberta Ferretti (old) also love this one , Blazer: H&M (old) similar here, Pants: Daily Look, Bag: Luis Vuitton (old) love this one , Necklace: Betsy Johnson (old), love this one from Emerald Park Jewelry too.

2. This next look is inspired by Spring- innocent ingénue, all sweetness and light. Spring is here, and with it comes a new crop of florals, pair them with your old pastels or neutrals in retro but edgy style. Love this A-Line dress by Ellen Tracy.

Dress: Ellen Tracy , Blazer: Gant (old) similar here , Shoes: Christian Louboutin(old) love these flats as an alternative, Tote: Henri Bendel (sold out), love this one too, Bracelets: David Yurman and Alexis Bittar (old), love this one from Emerald Park Jewelry , Fedora: TopShop

3. Dressing down for the most challenging role of my life- motherhood. You will catch me wearing no make up, linen wide pants and stripe loose top. If you desire to dress up this look a bit, below I added some bohemian elements.

Top: French Connection (old), I like this one  , Coat: Isabel Marant , Pants: Joie , Pumps: Valentino , Tote: Henri Bendel sold out, Earrings: Bling Jewelry (love these from Emerald Park Jewelry  ,) Bracelet: Kate Spade , Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

4. I love to dress down, but I'm the queen of boho and Spanish influenced style. I'll look at Rachel Zoe and say, yeah, that's cool, I'll rock that. I won't ever spend the money she does, though. Except for shoes and earrings most of these items are from new collections by Tory Burch and IRO.

Top: Tory Burch , Jacket: IRO , Jeans: Page , Pumps: Christian Loubouitn (old) love these but I am sure these  are super uncomfortable, Bag: Deux Lux (soldo out), Earrings: Belk (old) love these from Emerald Park Jewlry , Sunglasses: Thierry Lasry

5. Pleats have been seen on the streets a lot lately: skirts, flouncy white shirts, spring coats etc. Street style is the fashion of our culture, and so for me, it is the way onward. It's all in the way we mix and match the pieces. You can mix this blouse with your worn-out boyfriend jeans, shorts or pencils skirts.

Top: Alice+Olivia (sold out at Bloomingdales, I like this one too), Trouser: Jhonathan Saunders (old) absolutely love these pants , Flats: Bureberry (old) similar here , Bag: Versace (sold out), Earrings: Blue Canday , Watch: Peugeot , Bracelet: Liz Clairbone or this one from E merald Park Jewelry , Ring Set: T&C

6.  Cape-style sleeves, embroidered and back cutout with tiered overlay, this season's sexiest dresses take their cues from traditional Mexican way of dressing. Don't forget to find your favorite vintage jewelry pieces to complete this look.

Dress: Free People, Cardigan: H&M (old) similar here , Boots: Taryn Rose (old) similar here , Bag: Saint Laurent (sold out), Choker: Mango love this one too, Belt: Stella McCartney, similar here

7. A new breed of suit has swept in this spring, coming directly from DVF SS16 Collection. Her new fashion maturity features the arrival of such elements of decent dressing as "safari styling,"glamorous taupe-grey linen, point collar, utility style front pockets and playful rainbow fringing twist.

Top: European Culture (old) similar concept here , Jacket: Diane Von Furstenberg , Pants:   Diane Von Furstenberg , Shoes: Michael Micahel Kors , Bag: Gucci (sold out), Earrings: Blink Jewelry, or these from Emerald Park Jewelry , Bracelets: David Yurman and Belk , Sunglasses: Saint Laurent

8. Strong, romantic and feminine. This dress by Adelyn Rae suggests a wistful prettiness and openness, taking harbor in the formality of trapeze structure. Pair it with a tried oversize trench, a cropped peacoat or a bomber jacket.

Dress: Adelyn Rae , Trench: Hobbs Saskia , Shoes: Joie , Bag: Relaxfeel , Watch: Micahel Kors , You can accessorize with this bracelet from Emerald Park Jewelry and Sunglasses: Forever 21

9. Summer and spring as seasons are laid-back, which means you can play more with comfortable shirts and jeans or shorts. Once you're comfortable with your base, you can expand onto your accessories.

Top: Madewell , Blazer: Alice&You , Jeans: Abercrombie&Fitch (old) similar here , Shoes: Joie , Crossbody: Flora Bella , Bracelets: Zaful and Boho Betty ( I love this one from Emerald Park Jewelry ), Necklace: Forever21

Top: Madewell, Blazer: Alice&You, Jeans: Abercrombie&Fitch (old) similar here, Shoes:Joie, Crossbody: Flora Bella, Bracelets: Zaful and Boho Betty ( I love this one from Emerald Park Jewelry), Necklace: Forever21

10. Bejeweled or silk pleated tops and pleated mini skirts are turning up the heat this spring.  Chic European meets bohemian is a sudden expansion of girlie femininity. Let's not forget to accessorize heavily with jewelry for maximum glamour effect.

Cardigan: Eileen Fisher (old) like this one too, Top: Marc by Marc Jacobs (not available) here is another stunning top, Skirt: Alexander McQueen (old) similar here , Shoes: Dior (old) love these , Tote: Henri Bendel (sold out) love this one too . Short Story For Every Woman!

A chic jean jacket is the mini's perfect partner.

End of Summer's higher-than-ever hemlines are the new fashion favorites for the girl who's on the go. When going super short, replace the mile-high stiletto with chic flats- there are plenty to choose from this season.

This is also a perfect season to start your private collection of bracelets, bangles and cuffs.

Your everyday bag-downsized to a perfectly portable purse or clutch-in wear-with-everything neutral.

For the next few weeks you can still pair your gladiator natural leather sandals with skinny pants or a casual mini skirt like the one Jamie is wearing on the photos.

On the weekends, keep it simple and sporty with basic tees, knits and denim jackets. With a sexy mini at night, a looser top will keep the proportions right.

It's a very body-conscious look, yet the mini skirt can be very flattering. Making it work depends on color- prints can be a really great choice- and other elements of your outfit.

Jamie is wearing: Jacket: H&M, sold out (love this one too) Sandals: American Eagle (love these ones too), Clutch: Calvin Klein, Tank: Apartment 9 (love this one too), Skirt: Casey Tribal Print, Sunglasses: Steve Madden, Bracelet: handmade, Earrings: Kenneth Jay

THE MINI

The skirt of the season has reached new heights- and whether it's scandalously skintight, flouncy and flirty, or slim and sophisticated, there's a suitable style for everyone.

HOW TO WEAR IT IN YOUR 20S

TOP: MAURICES, COAT: ARTIZIA, SKIRT: MANGO, SHOES: SHOPAKIRA, BAG: DIANE VON FRUSTENBERG, NECKLACE: ECLETCTICA VINTAGE, BANGLES: MONKI, WRAP BRACELET: MCQ, SUNGLASSES: LINDA FARROW

Keep the concept of mini relative: In your 20s, a traffic-stopping suede mini, graphic tank top and easy silhouette Italian wool coat are perfect for brave fashion followers. Bold but totally acceptable. Just remember you must feel comfortable with the length. If you feel as if you're baring too much, then most likely you are.

HOW TO WEAR IT IN YOUR 30S

SWEATER: ZARA, BLOUSE: UNIQLO, SKIRT: NEW LOOK, SHOES: NINE WEST, BAG: MARNI, BRACELET: CHAN LUU, EARRING STUDS: EDDIE BORGO, BEANIE: COAL THRIFT, SUNGLASSES: FLOWER2

SWEATER: ZARA, BLOUSE: UNIQLO, SKIRT: NEW LOOK, SHOES: NINE WEST, BAG: MARNI, BRACELET: CHAN LUU, EARRING STUDS: EDDIE BORGO, BEANIE: COAL THRIFT, SUNGLASSES: FLOWER2

Those in their 30s can still go short-short- depending on whether it's for day, night, work, or weekend. The shorter the skirt, the lower the heel.

HOW TO WEAR IT IN YOUR 40S

TOP: GLAMOUROUS, COAT: MAX MARA, MINI SKIRT: ARMANI, BOOTIES: BCBG, BAG: BURBERRY, CUFF RING: NASTY DRESS, NECKLACE: ALEXIS BITTAR, SUNGLASSES: ILLESTEVA

Okay in your 40s you are most likely thinking an inch or two above the knee but on rare occasions it is absolutely allowed, especially to those who do not want to hide their legs just yet, to put on a flirty, textured mini and kitten heels to dress it up a bit. Especially when there is no cleavage involved, and the blouse is not fitted. Sexy and elegant.

HOW TO WEAR IT IN YOUR 50S

CARDIGAN: TORY BURCH, SHIRT: TOP SHOP, SKIRT: ZAC POSEN, SATCHEL: FENDI, EARRINGS: KATE SPADE, BRACELET: DAVID YURMAN, SCARF: MAGASCHONI, SANDALS: RAMARIM

In your 50s you can pair pumps or heeled sandals with just-above-the knee skirt for a more sophisticated look. Obviously you don't always have to look like a librarian but it is a very flattering look. If you wear loafers or flat shoes you can easily rise your hemline an inch or two above your knees.

HOW TO WEAR IT IN YOUR 60S

SWEATER: BARBARA BUI, CAPE: VALENTINO, SKIRT: THEORY, BOOTIES: BANDOLINO EVORA, CLUTCH: DOROTHY PERKINS, BRACELET: NANCY GONZALEZ, EARRINGS: EDDIE BORGO,

In their 60s+ it is safe to say women should stick to clean and simple just above the knee skirts in a conservative solid color or black and white patterns, but I am also a fan of dark florals and tweed pastels. I find that mature women who do go for brighter colors and busier patterns are fearless fashionistas no matter what age.

HOW TO WEAR IT If YOU ARE CURVY

SHORT SLEEVE SWEATER: MBJ, JACKET: RIVER ISLAND, SKIRT: ROMWE, SANDALS: DSQUARED2, BAG: TOM FORD, EARRINGS: SONOMA LIFE, LEATHER BRACELET: MANGO, RED BRACELET: VINTAGE, SUEDE BRACELET: GREENBEANS BY EMILY & ASHLEY, LEATHER GLOVES: VALENTINO, HEAD WRAP: CARA, SUNGLASSES: ILLESTEVEA

For the more curvy and top-heavy, a bright-colored or single breasted in beige or cream color skirt with a neutral or black shirt creates the proper balance

HOW TO WEAR IT If YOU ARE BOTTOM-HEAVY

CARDIGAN: ROMWE, SHIRT: R13, SKIRT: NEW LOOK, BOOTIES: GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI, WRISTLET: VERA BRADELY, EARRINGS: CHANEL, BANGLE: NEW LOOK, HAT: MICHAEL STARS, SUNGLASSES: VINCE CAMUTO

A fuller-figured woman, especially if she is bottom-heavy, should wear a more A-line skirt and pair it with a simple top, like a button-down shirt or blouse, keeping the colors dark for slimmer silhouette.

HOW TO WEAR IT If YOU ARE SLIM-HIPPED

SHIRT: KARL LAGERFELD, COAT: GANT, SKIRT: CHLOE, BOOTS: JEFFREY CAMPELL, BAG: MICHAEL BY MICHAEL KORS, EARRINGS: ACCESSORIZE, BANGLE: ARMENTA

A slim-hipped woman should pick a mini with a bit of a flair and pair it with a wispy top, nipped in slightly at the waist to create curves.

Jean Jacket Style and Six Ways of Fading to White in Style!

Some great jean jacket styles are out there for you to try. Remember to skip boxy styles and create curves with a cinched-waist jacket this is especially great if you have a boyish build.

Pair your jacket with a sexy t-shirt or camisole and flirty scarf for a look that's flattering, feminine and very 2015.

All you need are comfortable flat Vans to finish the look.

Every woman should have at least one jacket that's a teeny bit tight across the chest. Zip or button it to just under the bustline, and let the rest of your jacket frame your chest for instant va-va-voom appeal!

Say no to oversize square-cut styles (that only works for blazers and coats come this Fall). Trade in your shapeless denim numbers for a shorter, sleeker version that doesn't overwhelm your frame, especially if you're petite.

Make this look evening-ready by adding strappy sandals and chandelier earrings. (and loosing the scarf)

SIX WAYS OF FADING TO WHITE IN STYLE

Prepare for a white out. This summer, style reaches new heights of sophisticated simplicity with clean, crisp white. Shed some light on your look with these six simple solutions for staying in style.

1. WHITE BAG

There is something so retro about a white leather bag. Racy and demure all at once, it works at any hour. It's polished and lady-like by day, but ideal for evening when the white really pops.
