Great Expectations

In this post, A Fashion Page and JRounds Photography, features their first video "Feel This Way", hottest new model Chloe Smith, fashion, beauty and Bethlehem.

We are also launching our new channel on YouTube that will focus on fashion, beauty and local business. At least that's what our curatorial team at AFP hopes for. Our mission will be to discover who's shaping the future of local fashion scene and business from the hotels we visit to the cars we drive to the furniture we buy.  Together, with our host Chloe Smith, we will scout locations and look for local precious gems.

The thrill is finding emerging talent and getting people excited about them. The show is going to be very cool. Stay tuned!

Try Out Pretty And Cool Things!

It's easy: Just hang up your little blackdress, jeans and t-shirts in your closet and indulge in pretty and simple white dress, wide-brim hat, distressed jean jacket and shiny heels.

Let's face it- time goes by unbelievably quickly. It is almost Fall and seems like yesterday we had the beginning of Summer. This season's long ethnic tops and dresses served as mini cover-ups that you tossed on over your suit. But towards the end of the August, it's a dress. That means you can look cute and be ready to play with jean jackets, cardigans, boots....anything that will suit last days of Summer and chillier nights

Be ready to go wherever the day takes you.  With this simple and pretty but still very sexy and girly look you will get a notice-me type of response. Especially if you wear this beautiful Badgley Mischka hat, which is always so glam. Just indulge in a few creative items: Jamie wears sexy, gold, high-heel sandals. If you want less dressy just find some with no heel.

We ended up in one of the most amazing places in Bethlehem- Moravian Book Shop! America's oldest bookstore founded in 1745. In our photoshoot adventures we're always turning to Bethlehem or other towns in our area not just for inspiration, but for collaboration. The moment Jamie and our team entered the historical book shop in the heart of Bethlehem, it was clear we had scored another hit for AFP.

What holds us transfixed, however, isn't just the beauty of this town, stunning as it is. It is the people and multi-attitudes, awashed in native flavor and rich history of this region.

In fashion it must be understood that creative cross-pollination with the right photographer, make up artist, model and brands spells success. As a Fashion stylist I wanted to reinterpret the traditional, bohemian motifs. I wanted for this look to have its own character. Little details like adorned jean jacket and jean Steve Madden bag with logo pins, choker and sparkly earrings promote imaginative pairings and invite creativity to your everyday ensambles.

There is a newfound appreciation for DIY pieces like Steve Madden bag because they are one-of-a-kind and can become a part of the movement, and definitely are statement pieces that we can closely relate to.

Confident in Gingham Style!

We had a blast working with model Jessica Falco and are looking forward to more shoots with this beauty. She is super professional and absolutely stunning. Photographed by one and only John Rounds, beautified and hair-styled by amazing Danika Clevenstine. Styled by me.... :)

Let's talk about Jessica's look.  Gingham style, not to confuse with Gangnam Style, has been around since 1800s.  The actual fabric is over five hundred years old! And since 1940s the fabric has been favored by American actresses like Katharine Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and today's celebrities like Emily Rajtkowski.  For Jessica's look we chose, this trendy gingham A-line dress by Isaac Mizrahi that is cinched at the waist. And we're keeping this look clean and simple.

So, just to be clear, Gingham is not plaid! Here's how to tell them apart:

  • Gingham is always is white plus another color
  • Plaid can be any combination of colors
  • The lines in gingham have the same width
  • The lines in plaid have different widths

This classic look is fitting for a low key premiere or party.

IMNYC ISAAC MIZRAHI Gingham A-Line Shirtdress is on sale right now and you can purchase it here.

With Memorial Weekend upon us there is not other pattern that feels more All American than gingham.

Our theme for this photoshoot was Backstage Confidence.  Jessica did a phenomenal job in showcasing the evolution of confidence building that every model, actress or musician must go through. Self-assurance is a powerful value because it helps make dreams realities. Jessica seems to be the type of model that once she sets her mind on something , she goes for it.  What is important to understand is that beauty and ability comes from within and I think John Rounds did an unbelievable job in capturing just that!

So how does exactly Gingham's wholesomeness play into Confidence we're talking about? Because it is also hot, stylish and easygoing. But, most important, and I am sure we all agree,  it is very feminine!

6 TRENDS IN FASHION AND BEAUTY WE LOVE.

1. Past decades we own.

Silhouettes, fabrics and patterns from 50s and 70s are this season's hit. The devil is all in the details: overexposed zippers, wide belts and flowers.

Dress: Zac Posen, Belt: Express, Necklace:H&M, Cardigan: bordeaux (Anthropologie)

Touch of 50s and getting stuck in 70s ...

2. Florals- Hot Right Now.

For those Spring and Summer outings it is only appropriate to come out all in floral color.  Classic floral dress is a carefully planned decision, cool and feminine. It needs to keep all proportions and balances in check. If high neck dress- we can go shorter, if neck and cleavage are exposed- dress should fall below the knees. For jewelry we go with oversized, heavy earrings.

3. Three for Three Steps to clean Face.

Before any make up gets applied or after it is removed I use Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush with 3-Step Skin Care routine: foaming soap, clarifying lotion and moisturizing gel.

4. Cat Eye Running.

Eye Make UP: The cat eye look comes and goes. This is a rather subtle, lighter version and it works really well with darker tops. Love Tom Ford mascara, I use it for all of my eye make up looks.

5. Everything in Two.

Two piece combos are still in. You can wear high waisted skirts with cropped tops in all shades and colors. They can look very sexy or just plain playful.

6. Shout Out to rag&bone Label.

Smart people make beautiful and interesting things. Marcus Wainwright and David Neville's brand rag & bone specializes in genius, unique modern designs.  Thanks to them the brand is one of the most coveted wearable, prestige clothing labels in today's market.  New face of luxury with New York aesthetic. Made by people for people.

But beautifully constructed things are not anonymous, they don't just come out of nowhere. Without any formal fashion training there was an idea, project and passion that lead to creation of an ideal product. In short, these designers utilize a pure craftsmanship of local manufactures and some of the oldest factories in the country. Their brand image has been built on quality and expert skill. Everything is thought through with downtown sensibility and it is impeccably crafted. That's what I call "trendy."
